Three Undiscovered Temples Of India
Everyone backpacking to India is pretty much aware of and probably flocking to The Golden Temple in Amritsar and the crazy bike temple in Rajasthan, where all roadies must pay homage, but here are still some undiscovered unique temples that crave worship and admiration; in this vast country now filling fast with backpackers, there yet remains the road less traveled.
156 Acre temple in Tamil Nadu
Temple of all faiths: Hindu, Christian & Muslim
7th Century temple of singing pillars
River lovingly called Porunai (by poets) snakes around the Nellaiappar Temple in Tamil Nadu. Carved 3,000 years ago, this sculptural wonder has many exciting features; my favourite are the musical pillars, which produce sounds in many pitches when whacked. Also check out the 1000 pillared hall (Somavara Mandapam) and Tamra Sabha with wood carvings.
There is much to see in India. It can keep you amazed for years, like it has kept me.
Enjoy your trip and hit me up if you have any questions.
